You-Tube and Me-Tube Can Communicate Using Subtitles and Captions!

There are many reasons for using subtitles on online media such as youtube, etc.

First of all, everyone can submit and everyone can watch videos. The internet is an international tool used by people around your country and around the world, and people may speak different languages and have varying levels of proficiency in English. Your video can entertain the largest number of viewers if it crosses this language barrier.

Uploading videos with captions or subtitles in common second languages such as Spanish or Chinese can increase the experience of viewers who speak these languages and would like to view your video. These subtitles can be included directly in the video if you are an experienced digital editor, but if you don’t know how to add subtitles to the file you can also include a multilingual caption on the sidebar to the right of your youtube video.

There is space reserved for the uploader to write a caption, lyrics, etc. If your video is a song, you may want to post the audible lyrics as well as a translation. Wouldn’t you like to understand a song or video posted in a different language? When we can share and communicate across the language barrier we learn so much from people around the world, and the internet is a great place in which to engage in this dialogue.
